Brookline has much to offer. Nestled up to Boston, Brookline has managed to maintain its own identity, blending stimulating urban life with suburban amenities. Its mixture of busy streets and numerous parks, upscale shops and village pubs, gracious apartment buildings and large estates makes it unique.
Brookline has seven Main Street style retail centers. Three of them, St. Mary's Station, Coolidge Corner and Washington Square, are located along the Beacon Street corridor and are directly served by the MBTA's C branch of the Green Line. JFK Crossing is on Harvard Street abutting Brighton/Allston. Brookline Village is primarily on Harvard Street and is served by the MBTA's D Green Line branch. The final two areas are both within Chestnut Hill, one along Boylston Street at Hammond and the other at Putterham Circle. Of these commercial areas, Coolidge Corner is by far the largest with more than one hundred restaurants and storefronts.
Brookline's commercial areas are bustling, primarily pedestrian-oriented shopping areas with a variety of popular chain stores as well as many independently owned shops that include craft galleries, antique stores, coffee shops, bookstores and fresh fruit, and vegetable markets. The array of shopping experiences is matched only by the global choices in dining. According to the magazine Improper Bostonian, "Few arteries in the region boast the number and variety of restaurants that Beacon Street in Brookline possesses. Cuisines of every ethnicity are offered in storefront after storefront."
We cordially invite you to come and enjoy yourself at some of our many Brookline businesses.
